What's a Sole Without a Sock?

"Socks play an incredibly important role in a mans life" (Oscar Wilde)
Socks are becoming a game-changer in the footwear stakes guys! Although they are slowly but surely beginning to catch on, (David Beckham on the last Jonathan Ross springs to mind) some have have it down all along #MJ #JonSnow

I am by NO means advocating the wearing of white socks, but DO experiment with some block colours, then hit the crazy stripes! I think Oscar Wilde was referring to socks being important as a silent expression of your personality. Nothing says bore more than brown, black and navy!

Express yourself.

Sock&Sole Presents... 11 Shoes for 2011

1) The Art of the Boat Shoe…
‘I’m on a speedboat in my boat shoes’

Always destined to become a key summer trend Sock&Sole introduces its 11 for 2011 with the boat shoe.
Unlike Kanye West who can wear his whilst on a speedboat, the majority of us will have to make do pounding the pavements in ours.
I’m thinking nothing but Falke’s Invisible Socks with these. Good luck finding them.

2) The Art of the Brogue…

The sock is doing the hard work here, so you don’t have to. On a recent visit to Selfridges, London, I was confronted with their sock emporium. Amazing. The devil really is in the detail. Wearing with jeans? No more than two turn ups please.
3) The Art of the Chelsea Boot…

‘Kick the heels into the Brooklyn dirt’ The Beatles made these cool…

I kinda wanna be a rockstar like Russell Brand. Got me some Chelsea Boots, fine and dandy.

The boot takes the emphasis away from the sock detail so it’s all in the trouser. Skinny or Slim jeans please guys. Why hide your light under a bushel?

4) The Art of the High-Top…

I really struggle with these. For true inspiration go East! I got these Cherry Red Nike Air Zoom’s to keep me occupied until I can do it like these guys#iseeyoukanyewest
5) The Art of the Penny Loafer…

Penny for my thoughts? Penny loafers are cool. Classic. Dress up, dress down. Now that’s MY jam! There is so much scope for the socks to MAKE this shoe, from the no sock right up to the marl effect-walking sock. They ALL look fresh.
P.S. They’re called Penny loafers because of the ‘Penny Hole’ on the top strap. Once upon a time, a tassel could be bought alongside the shoe.
6) The Art of the Tasseled Loafer...

Far more eye catching than its classic counterpart, the tasseled loafer is no more the sole of choice for American businessmen, they are now worn with twills, denims and shorts, whilst they can still be worn formally…Versatile!

7) The Art of the Plimsoll…

White plimsolls?! Yawn. Colour Blocking is the future!
8) The Art of the Monk Strap...

These are the ONES to watch! Jamie Redknapp wore these on Sky Sports Super Sunday and brought them BACK! Ive been looking for my perfect pair ever since. Sock&Sole says get to know!
9) The Art of the Oxford Shoe…

When I graduated, I sure as hell would have looked better in these. A staple for those formal occasions.
10) The Art of the Walking Boot…

Very, very unsure about these but each to their own. Geography teacher-chic. Did Mr. Hardy have it right all along?!

11) The Art of the Desert Boot…

Northern Soul, complete with a crepe soul. These are quickly catching on. As one of the most comfortable shoes ever, Manchester’s indie kids swear by them. Professor Green, better late than never! As they are all suede, shoe care is key! Like what you see, then get Clarks Originals. Accept NO imitations.
